So many books are written about people with disabilities by able bodied people. So much humanity and complexity is lost through these often stereotypical, one-dimension renderings. In our class we read "Cathedral" by Raymond Carver, a story about an unlikable narrator's offensive ableist perceptions about a blind man. Clearly we need more stories like Ms. Srinivasan's to illuminate the talent and perspective of those with disabilities. Ms. Srinivasan's brilliant photographs paired with inspiring text defy expectations and show the true power of the human spirit. I hope she writes a memoir or personal narrative soon. The world would be better for it.Product details

This book gives a voice to individuals who often must rely on others, so they have difficulty h having their own opinions. Through photographs and well chosen words the author provides us valuable information about her thoughts and needs.
What a wonderful, inspirational book. This young lady has expressed so many deep thoughts, along with her beautiful photographs. "See What I can do! Not what I Cannot!" "Behavior is Communication" and my favorite, "If I'm prickly find out why?"
